Rick Carpiniello and Sam Borden debate the the hottest topics in sports

Question #1

Question: What is the point of this blog?

Answer: I like questions. Always have. Particularly ones that have no obvious answer. Back when I was a beat writer covering the Yankees at the Daily News, the most popular element of my blog there was a feature I called the QOD – the Question Of The Day. It would usually be some sort of general query about the Yankees that prompted (typically) spirited debate among the (typically) level-headed readers. On days where I wanted to really drive traffic, I just asked some version of the question, “So, how much do you hate A-Rod?” because A-Rod + internet anonymity = Pure blogging gold.

Now that Carp and I are sharing an apartment together in the Blogosphere, the idea will be to open up the questions to a wider variety of subjects. There’ll be plenty of sports talk, including all the local teams, but also questions about whatever else comes to our minds. We’ll try to get a daily question up each weekday morning, and banter back and forth with each other, as well as anyone else who wants to get involved.

So that’s pretty much it. If you’ve got suggestions for questions, e-mail me at sborden@lohud.com. If you want to talk about A-Rod, e-mail Carp at rcarpini@lohud.com.

Rick CarpinielloRick Carpiniello grew up in lower Westchester and began working in The Journal News' sports department (back when it was The Reporter Dispatch and eight other newspapers) in October of 1977 after a year of covering high school sports as a stringer.
